Woohoo! It’s time to share one of the most visually lovely weddings I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. Mayumi and Bret’s June wedding is featured in the most recent issue of Seattle Bride Magazine — have you picked up your copy? Page 88, loves!
Each of my weddings tends to be so different from the next. What I loved most about Mayumi and Bret’s event was the ways in which they personalized the day for their guests. The bride’s mom, Tomoko, is CEO of the best Asian market here in Seattle called Uwajimaya, — one of my favorite places in the whole city! — so the couple requested a stop there during portrait time. Oh my goodness, it was SUPER fun to surprise all of the grocery shoppers with a bride and groom cameo! During the reception, Tomoko also had the great idea for the couple to include the Japanese tradition of breaking a barrel and a traditional sake toast, pictured below. These traditions were new to me, and such a blast to document.
The vendor team for this event was absolutely stellar. Wonderstruck Event Design curated a visually stunning yet welcoming and fun wedding day for our couple. I’ve worked with Katie and Mallory from Wonderstruck a lot and am always in such good hands. A big thanks to them for putting my name in the hat! I so loved working with this couple and meeting their families. :)
