Cyrus and Jennifer contacted me back in April about their September courthouse wedding, and I’m so glad they did. They’d been together for 11 years, decided that it was time to make it official, and liked the other courthouse weddings in my portfolio. Like most couples who choose a courthouse ceremony, Cyrus and Jennifer envisioned a low-key, simple celebration including only their closest family and friends.
To those of you who might think that courthouse weddings can’t be elegant, to you, I say, “Wrong!” I present to you as evidence Exhibit A: This wedding.
Cyrus and Jennifer chose to host their celebratory dinner at the Edgewater Hotel on Seattle’s waterfront, one of the most iconic hotels in Seattle with a view that few locations can rival.
I like what the couple wrote to me in one of their initial emails: “We chose to do a smaller, courthouse wedding to avoid the craziness surrounded with a big celebration.” If you are engaged and reading this right now, struggling with all of the pressure, anxiety, and logistics that can come along with planning a big wedding, I recommend considering a smaller event. Start here for some inspiration… These two did a lovely job with their sweet courthouse wedding day!
