One reason why I love my job is that I’m lucky enough to work with incredibly passionate, creative vendors at every event. In an industry that’s as competitive and crazy as it is in Seattle, it’s inspiring to see these entrepreneurs put their best foot forward every time for their clients. I witness it time and time again at weddings; and each time it floors me to sit back and think about how many people behind the scenes it takes to create a wedding day. So, when Katie at Wonderstruck Event Design invited me to be a part of her team of vendors for the I Do Sodo wedding show last month, I couldn’t say no. It was a dream team.
To be totally honest, traditional wedding shows kind of freak me out. But when I learned how this show was structured, it felt very natural and clever to me. Sodo is known for being a more industrial neighborhood here in Seattle, home to warehouses, galleries, and a bunch of new wedding venues. This wedding show was different because guests started their day at Safeco Field, then were transported around to tour seven unique venues in the Sodo area. Each venue was outfitted with a team of vendors, who put their own spin on the decor and displayed wedding details. One-stop-shopping for couples who were looking for an urban venue and to meet wedding vendors face to face. In only a few hours, these couples got immediate access to a bunch of venues and dozens of cool vendors, saving them tons of precious wedding planning time. Not only did they get to tour these venues, they got to see them all dolled up as they could be on a real wedding day. Let’s hear it for efficiency and practicality! Oh yeah. That’s right. It’s a pretty wedding show, but it’s also a smart use of couple’s time. Boom. The full package.
A HUGE thank-you is in order for the vendors who put their all into this event, and to the guests who came to visit us!
